Mike is married to Kim. They have two adult children. Mike was inspired as a youth to join the Knights of Columbus by his two uncles who were Fourth Degree Knights, especially by his Uncle Ray, who was also his Confirmation sponsor.

Mike joined the Knights of Columbus in 1984 (Holy Family Council-#4879 in Sun Prairie). In 1985 he was elected Treasurer and held that office until he became Financial Secretary in 1991. In 1986 Mike became a Fourth Degree Knight.

In 2012 Mike was elected Deputy Grand Knight and in 2013 he was elected Grand Knight. In his first year as Grand Knight he was also District Warden. In his second year as Grand Knight he was appointed District Deputy a position he held until 2016. Mike was elected State Advocate at the KC State Convention in May 2016.

While Grand Knight in 2014, Mike also coordinated a Fourth Degree Honor Guard Training Session conducted by Western District Master Ronald J. Shymanski and Eastern District Master Roland Ransom, II. There were over 60 attendees. This was one of the largest Fourth Degree Training Session in Southern Wisconsin.

In his first year as District Deputy he also hosted Second and Third Exemplifications.

Mike was the lead coordinator for the Fourth Degree Exemplification that was held in DeForest in February 2015 with over 50 candidates. Prior to this it had been more than 20 years since a Fourth Degree Exemplification was held in the Madison area. He was appointed Auxiliary Marshall for that event. Over the past several years, Mike has traveled the State and has participated in many of Fourth Degree Exemplifications in both Eastern and Western Districts.

At the 2015 State Convention Mike was elected as a delegate to the Supreme Convention in Philadelphia. Mike also attended the 2016 Supreme Convention in Toronto Canada.

In July 2015 Mike helped 8 Councils raise over $13,000.

Mike is very active in his Church (Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary Parish). The following are examples of his involvement:

Mike is also very active in his Assembly (1948). Presently his is their Faithful Pilot. He participates on average of 30 Fourth Degree events each year such as: Ordination of the Priests and Deacons, Badger Honor Flights, local parades, Confirmations, First Communications, Golden Mass (Assumption High School-Wisconsin Rapids), Honor Guard at State Conventions and an Honor Guard in Special Olympics in Stevens Point to mention just a few.

Mike is very dedicated to the Knights of Columbus and has the support of his wife Kim. Ask any Knight that knows Mike and they will confirm his commitment, dedication and willingness to give and serve. Mike is also an insurance member and member of the Father Michael J. McGivney Guild.

Mike’s work schedule allows him the flexibility to commit the time necessary to carry-out the duties as a State Officer.
