PRAYER TO ST. JUDE
Most holy Apostle, St. Jude, faithful servant and friend of Jesus, the Church honors and invokes you universally as the patron of hope. Please intercede on my behalf. Make us of that particular privilege given to you to bring hope, comfort, and help where they are needed most. Come to my assistance in this great need that I may receive the consolation and help of heaven as I work with my challenges, particularly (here make your request). I praise God with you and all the saints forever. I promise, blessed St. Jude, to be ever mindful of this great favor, to always honor you as my special and powerful patron and to gratefully encourage devotion to you. Amen.
"Who is going to save our Church? Not our bishops, not our priests and religious. It is up to you, the people. You have the minds, the eyes, the ears to save the Church. Your mission is to see that your priests act like priests, your bishops like bishops and your religious act like religious." --Venerable Archbishop Fulton J. Sheen, 1972

I stopped by to visit Change Point in Hot Springs today. Today was Kelly Jo’s last day of volunteering in operating the ultrasound machine on Thursdays, her day off. Her normal job is as an ultrasound technician at Children’s Hospital in Little Rock. Kelly Jo has received a promotion at Children’s which causes her to work more of a regular schedule and eliminates her Thursdays off.
Six years ago, the Knights of Columbus council 6419 bought and donated an ultrasound machine to Change Point. The personnel there encourage expectant mothers to have an ultrasound test performed with the idea that if an expectant mother sees the baby in her womb, they would be less likely to have an abortion. JoAnn Carter, the Director at Change Point, told me that last year they had a 100% success rate of convincing expectant mothers to bear their child to term and so far this year has been a 100% success rate as well. She said that in six years, they have saved 810 babies as a result of the machine.
Today, Kelly Jo was training a volunteer RN on the machine and I was hoping to catch both of them, and thank Kelly Jo for her service and thank the volunteer RN as well, but I missed both of them. I did however get to meet another RN, Betty Smith, who is on staff at Change Point.
JoAnn told me that today was a sad day because a young lady had come in to get an ultrasound test and it turned out that the infant was deceased in her womb. So everybody was sad in that office today. It is ironic that on Kelly Jo’s last day, she discovered a deceased unborn baby.
JoAnn told me that she has a service technician from Memphis come by twice a year to check out the machine and each visit costs Change Point $500. So it is good that the Baby Bottle Campaign the Knights conduct at our local Catholic churches gives Change Point some operating funds. Other local churches conduct Baby Bottle Campaigns, as well.

Growing in Discipleship is Hard Work. Given the complexities of our lives—trying to raise a family, trying to navigate busy work and home schedules, trying to follow Christ--there is a great need for resources and training in how to grow in our relationship with Christ as a Church community.
Catholic Rural Life has worked with many priests, lay men and women, and parishes in dioceses around the country. Participants will come away with tools and inspiration in how to develop or revitalize growth in their parish community.
Early registration fee $20 due on or before Sept 1 and $30 after Sept 1; fee includes lunch. For registration information please contact your parish office, the Diocese of Little Rock Office of Faith Formation 501-664-0340, email@example.com or visit www.dolr.org.
The state directory previously only printed and distributed in a hard copy to each council is now available under "Members Only" for all councils using the Uknight platform.
