Joseph Clyde Roth, Jr. 89, of North Syracuse, New York formerly of Syracuse’s North Side passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018. He served in England with the US Army during the Korean War. For 43 years, he was a lathe and machine operator for Crouse-Hinds Co.
Joe was an avid fisherman (“any place he can drown a worm”) and a New York Yankees Baseball fan. He was known as “Papa” to his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his wife of 37 years, the former Carmella Barilla in 1994, sisters Agnes and Barbara, brothers Dave, Richard and Bernard Roth as well as brothers-in-law, Frank and Dominick Barilla.
Surviving are his children: Michael J. (Cynthia) Roth, Geraldine M. (William) Moriarity, Antoinette (Timothy) Parkhurst; grandchildren, Joselle (Olesh) Iwachiw, Mary (Jason) Klink, Lt. David (Christine) Parkhurst, US Navy, and CPT John Moriarity, US Army Ranger; seven great grandchildren; sister Dorothy Roth; sister-in-law, Rena (George) Gianquitti; brothers-in-law, Santo, Andrew (Pat), Peter (Sandy) and Pat (Rosemarie) Barilla.
Calling hours will be Sunday, January 14th from 2 to 5 pm at Fergerson Funeral Home, 215 South Main Street, North Syracuse, NY. Services will be Monday at 9:15 am at the funeral home with Mass of Christian Burial at 10 am at the Church of the Assumption, 812 North Salina St., Syracuse, NY Burial, with military honors; will be in Assumption Parish Cemetery, Syracuse, NY.
