Some Interesting Reading!
Dear Brother Knights:
On March 6th, Ash Wednesday, the Church reminds us that we are a covenant people and that God is always calling us to a deeper relationship with Him.
Sin is what Lent is all about. On Ash Wednesday, we receive ashes on our foreheads as a reminder of our need for repentance, to change our sinful nature and to become more Christ like in our lives each day. The Church invites us to walk with Christ these 40 days by doing acts of penance, alms giving and developing a better sense of prayer. By becoming more aware of our need to change and acting upon the changes we make seriously, we then die to sin but only to rise to eternal life with Christ, the essential meaning of Easter.
As we approach this Holy Season, I encourage all of you to make Lent a time for personal growth with Christ. Remember, the ashes are not enough, the giving up of certain personal "goodies" are not enough, it is the renewal of ourselves that will make a big difference in our lives and our vocation as a follower of Christ.
"Repent now! Avoid the rush on judgment day."
