Michael Ryan is the Event Chairman for this event
The March for Life began as a small demonstration and rapidly grew to be the largest pro-life event in the world. The peaceful demonstration that has followed on this somber anniversary every year since 1973 is a witness to the truth concerning the greatest human rights violation of our time, abortion.
Thousands upon thousands of Americans flock to the Nation’s Capital every year in January to remember the more than 59 million American citizens who have been lost to abortion. We march to remember the moms and dads who have suffered from the pain of abortion. We march with the vision of a culture of life, one where every child is welcomed into life, and protected by law.
The annual March for Life, held on or around January 22 in Washington, D.C., commemorates the anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court’s infamous Roe v. Wade decision that legalized abortion on Jan. 22, 1973. For more information about the March for Life, youth conference, rally, Rose Dinner, and related events, visit www.marchforlife.org or call 202-234-3300.
All Knights and their families, particularly those in the greater Washington, D.C., area and nearby states, are urged to join the march. Councils planning bus trips to Washington should book their charters early. Knights should carry council banners and KofC posters, wear jackets with the KofC emblem, and walk together to show the Order’s support for the right to life.
Knights who cannot go to Washington can participate in local or state pro-life demonstrations. State pro-life chair couples will have information on local activities sponsored or supported by Knights in their jurisdictions.
