The first thing you need to know is that a Poor Clare is a nun - meaning that she lives in one monastery (usually) for her whole life. She takes solemn vows that can only be dispensed by Rome. BUT the second thing you have to know - is that a Poor Clare Nun is not a Benedictine, Dominican, Visitation or Carmelite nun. She is a Poor Clare nun. There is a world of difference between these other beautiful orders and Poor Clares.NO, not all nuns are alike.

All Time Is at the Service of God
In a world where “time is money,” the Monastic culture grasps a deeper reality. For the contemplative, it is not a matter of material gain; rather, all time is at the service of God. Each moment is a means to a far greater end and, therefore, every moment counts. If time is used well, there will be everlasting happiness and bliss untold!

Hey! My name's Elizabeth. I'm a FOCUS missionary.
Where I serve
I have been given the great blessing and honor to serve the students at the University of Nebraska Omaha.
A few years ago I was reading over the Gospel before mass and I came across Luke 12:48 which reads “Much will be required of the person entrusted with much, and still more will be demanded of the person entrusted with more”. I remember reading this line and feeling very convicted and this verse has really stuck with me ever since. When I consider the course of my life and the gift of faith that God has so graciously bestowed upon me, I can’t help but be overwhelmed with a sense of gratitude. I don’t think I could have asked God for any more blessings because I have already been given so much. He has given me a very faithful and supportive family, friends who are more genuine and sincere than I would have thought was possible, four years at a school that provided incredible opportunities for personal and spiritual growth, and so much more. But of all the blessings in my life, I think the greatest one has been my relationship with Christ Himself. Through my years in high school and especially in college, I have come to know the Lord on a deeper and deeper level and this has impacted nearly every aspect of my life. My experience of the Lord and His love is something that He wants so desperately for all to experience. Because the Lord has blessed me with this experience, I truly feel that I have a responsibility to share it with others so that they too may know Him. So many have never experienced God’s love and many more don’t even believe it is possible to have a personal relationship with Christ. To me, this is convicting and it is largely what has inspired me to follow this path as a FOCUS missionary.
I think that it only makes sense because it was a FOCUS missionary who first inspired me to finally do something about the conviction that I felt when reading the verse above. I was deeply aware of all the blessings in my life, I wanted to do more to share Christ and evangelize, but I didn’t know how. It was through FOCUS that I received the guidance and the little push that I needed to listen to what the Lord had placed on my heart. Having just graduated college, I cannot think of anything I would rather spend my time doing than fully investing in the work of making disciples. I sincerely hope that during my time serving with FOCUS the Lord will use me to reach students so that they may come to know Him as I have.
As you read the verse I shared above, I hope that you too were drawn to reflect upon some of the blessings you have received from the Lord in your own life. I pray that you will consider partnering with me on this mission because I cannot do it alone. Your prayers and support are vital to my success and you need to know that. Truly, I cannot succeed in this mission without you. Your generosity will reach many souls for Christ, more than you or I may ever know. I am so excited about this work and I hope that you are too! Thank you in advance for your yes to partner with me and for your support- it will not go unnoticed.
